The Challenge
In January 2025, CybrogenIT was contacted by a dental practice with 10 employees after patients reported receiving suspicious billing emails that appeared to come from the office. The practice relied on a cloud-based dental management system for patient scheduling, billing, insurance verification, and digital records, all of which contained protected health information (PHI).
A cybersecurity scan revealed five compromised employee accounts, two infected workstations, and seven findings on the dark web linked to active logins.
